AFRICA AND MIDDLE EAST DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL
2008 Plan of Action
OBJECTIVE:
To assist in the organization of regional meeting which shall enhance the capacity of members and to support JCI in the extension of JCI values and principles to new countries in Africa and the Middle East?
GOALS FOR 2008
GOAL 1: Extend JCI to new countries and territories:
· To extend JCI to at least one new country in each of the five regions of the Africa and Middle East Development Council.
North Africa and Middle East: Egypt, Oman, Bahrain, Lybia and Algeria
South Africa: Mozambique, Malawi, Seychelles, Angola, Lesotho
West Africa: Mauritania, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Guinea Bissau
Central Africa: Democratic Republic of Congo, Sao Tome and Principe, Equatorial Guinea, Chad, and Central African Republic
· To ensure regular follow of any of these countries providing guidance through the affiliations process at the 2008 Congress in New Delhi
GOAL 2: Regional Meetings:
· To organize five effective regional meetings in which a minimum of two JCI signature courses will be organized for the members (notably JCI Presenter and ACHIEVE) and to provide forum for dialogue and training of national officers.
The dates of the AMDEC Meetings are:
1/ AMDEC North Marrakech, Morocco February 6 – 9, 2008
2/ AMDEC West - Abidjan, Cote d`Ivoire February 14 - 16, 2008
3/AMDEC East - Kigali, Rwanda February 20 – 23, 2008
4/ AMDEC South- Antananarivo, Madagascar February 27 – March 1, 2008
5/ AMDEC Centre - Pointe Noire/ Congo March 05 – March 8, 2008
GOAL 3: Relationships with other Associations
· Mindful of the JCI Policy AMDEC will seek to establish relationships with other organization in the Africa and the Middle East such the African Union and the Arab League.
GOAL 4: AMDEC Meetings:
· Revise the way AMDEC meetings at Conferences are being run limiting it to the councilors and JCI Officers while having the national officers involved in open forum that allows for an exchange of ideas and experiences in the first six months of leadership.
· To ensure that the AMDEC Meeting at the conference focuses on recommendations for the incoming AMDEC Team, elections of a new team and adoption of a budget for the next year.
GOAL 5: Motivation and membership growth
· To ensure a follow up of newly affiliated or potentially affiliated countries by way of constant communications and motivation.
· To provide an incentive for growth of existing national organization through enhancing the AMDEC Growth Awards at Congress.
GOAL 6: Finance
· To ensure the effective payment and collection of AMDEC dues recently increased to $200.
· To ensure that the AMDEC funds are efficiently employed towards the need of the Association.
GOAL 7: Sponsorship
· To seek ways and means to secure funding for the African Leadership Academy as well as to subsidize the promotion of JCI programs and the extension of JCI values in the Africa and the Middle.
Goal 8: Reports
· To ensure that all finding from the regional meetings are duly reported in timely manner to Executive Vice President and Area Director so as drive policy meeting the expectations of our members.
